SafeTY is NOT an accident.  Chief Security Specialist Ed Lee, who spent more than 35 years with the US Department of State, says there are two types of victims abroad; those who don’t know and those who think they do.

Sadly, parents and families often do not have passports, funding, insurance, permissions to seek medical care for their child if they are over 18, legal counsel, know how to reach the United States Consular, or know what to do when things go bad abroad. ClearCause is creating ASAPP – An Student Abroad Preparedness Plan to help ready families with contingency.  Your generosity is the greatly appreciated.

ClearCause is developing SafeTY certification to help you assess your readiness to advocate for yourself abroad.. SafeTY will address multiple touch points for safety considerations.  Everything from program selection, background checks, credits, housing, communications, money, insurance, healthcare records, emergency contacts, legal permissions, communications,  and more.

With your generosity, a Family Crisis Fund will be available to assist families who do not have the funds to get to their child or bring their child’s remains home.

Until then, please review Get Ready; Get Set; Go – gleaned from more than four years of reports from young students whose trips went wrong.

Be prepared. StaySafe.
